Maryland Legislature Special Session: More Taxes, Spending

AFP MOCO is conducting an aggressive effort to lobby the members of the Montgomery County Delegation to stop them from supporting additional tax and spending legislation in the Special Session of the Maryland Legislature currently planned for October, 2011.

Potential Taxes:

It is obvious that the leadership wants to push through additional taxes and fees and, given their recent history, they would be happy to approve significant additional spending as well. Attached is a brief description of what is currently in the works for the upcoming special session as well as a summary of the damage they did in the last special session in 2007.

We are soliciting volunteers for each state district to lead and coordinate the lobbying effort. This includes getting volunteers to call and/or visit each of the district delegates with the objective of obtaining a pledge from each representative that they will not support piling on legislative initiatives in the Special Session, specifically any legislation that will either increase taxes, increase fees or increase spending. The special session should be strictly for the redistricting efforts. It is not an appropriate forum for voting new taxes, fees, and spending.

If you are willing to lead one of the district efforts please contact Bill.

Please contact your your delegates to protest any legislation that will either increase taxes, increase fees, or increase spending.
Here is the body of a sample letter to your delegate .
